Authorities in Cobb County are at the scene of a double fatal accident on Interstate 575. It happened in the southbound lanes of I-575 just north of Chastain Road, and the highway is shut down indefinitely due to the investigation.

The Georgia State Patrol says troopers are working the crash, along with Cobb County police. Two people were killed in the accident, but few details were immediately available as to what led to the crash.

Drivers are urged to take alternate routes and avoid the area until the scene is cleared.

I just passed that accident on the way home. Red sedan was wrapped around the nose of the tanker truck. Car parts laying across the road for a good 200 feet. Could not even tell what kind of red vehicle it was. Completely gone. My thoughts are with those families.
