OSHA probes death of worker in Savannah River

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — The U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration is investigating the death of a man who had been working around a tug boat and dock when he disappeared in the Savannah River.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police identified the worker as 20-year-old Brian Charles Parker of Pooler. His body was found floating between a boat and the pier at Crescent Towing on Fig Drive about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said in a statement that the federal agency has taken the lead in the investigation, and an autopsy was scheduled to determine how Parker died.
