Marietta man accused of speeding, hitting police cars

A Marietta man was arrested Wednesday morning on obstruction charges after reportedly refusing to stop for county deputies.

Ryan Augustine Sample, 28, was arrested just after 9 a.m. on aggravated assault of a police officer charges and three counts of obstruction

According to a release from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, Sample is accused of speeding through a school zone on Powder Springs Road and refusing to pull over for about half a mile. He is also accused of backing into a police car and hitting another in front of him.

He also reportedly fought with deputies and resisted arrest but was eventually handcuffed and taken to the Cobb County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.

The Georgia State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
