Barrett Parkway Construction
A new traffic signal at the intersection of Barrett Parkway and Village Greene/Stone Bridge Streets will go into full operation after morning rush traffic, Monday, Feb. 4.
Northbound Barrett Parkway (Burnt Hickory Road to US 41). Continue to expect daily periodic lane closures or delays from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. between Burnt Hickory Road and Cobb Parkway (US 41). One lane will remain open during grading operations, bridge construction, wall construction, and storm drainage construction.
Southbound Barrett Parkway (Cobb Place to Burnt Hickory Road). Periodic lane closures continue from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. between Cobb Place and Burnt Hickory Road with one lane open as the contractor continues grading operations, wall construction, and storm drainage work.
County Services Parkway Sidewalks Construction Update
Austell Road to Powder Springs Road. Sidewalk construction continues on both sides of County Services Parkway where the Health Department and Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) are located. Expect periodic lane closures from with one lane remaining open.
Floyd Road Construction Update
Clay Road to Hicks Road. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with one lane open. The contractor will be installing new water main, storm drainage and grading.
Pedestrian Access
Pedestrian traffic will continue to be affected as old sidewalks are removed and new sidewalks are constructed along the east side of Floyd Road. Additional traffic barrels and directional signage will assist pedestrians needing access to existing CCT bus stops on the west side of Floyd. All existing CCT bus stops will be maintained during construction. Pedestrians are encouraged to follow signage where walking paths may be temporarily relocated during short-duration closures.
Hicks Road Sidewalks Construction Update
Frontier Trail to Floyd Oaks Drive and the Intersection of Hicks Road and Hurt Road. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with one lane open as the contractor places concrete sidewalks and final dressing.
I-285 Top-End Resurfacing Project – GDOT
Georgia Department of Transportation continues working on a $56 million resurfacing project on I-285, which involves part of Cobb County, however, there is no major roadwork scheduled until Spring 2013. Contractor will be working on bridge joints and other non-paving items.
Lower Roswell Road Construction
Davidson Road to Timber Ridge Road. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. between Davidson Road to Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open during grading, storm drainage installation and concrete placement construction.
May 2013 New Chastain Road Westbound Bridge Replacement
New Chastain Road Westbound Land Closure in May. In May 2013, Cobb County DOT is scheduled to begin work on replacing the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek, resulting in closure of the westbound lanes for approximately four months, beginning this summer. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction. Additional detour information will be made available at a public information meeting in April at a date to be determined.
Shiloh Road/Shallowford Road Construction Update
Wade Green Road to Canton Road. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with one lane remaining open. The contractor will be installing new a water main between Bells Ferry Road and Canton Road, and storm drainage between Busbee Parkway and Bells Ferry Road.

We are getting all these stroller paths that wind from park to park. Who will use them? Park service employees going from site to site?
People need to go from where they live to where they work and back. Have we figured that out yet?
