10-year-old Georgia boy hit by car, critically injured

LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) — Police in Lithonia say a 10-year-old boy has been hit by a car and is hospitalized in critical condition.

WSB-TV reports the boy was running toward a nearby school when he was hit by a black Mercedes SUV Tuesday morning.

Police say the boy was in a crosswalk at the time, but ran into the intersection just before the crash. Police say the crash happened in a school zone and investigators are working to determine how fast the SUV was going at the time.

The boy was taken to Hillandale Hospital and it is not yet clear if they driver of the Mercedes will face any charges.
