I read with dismay the report of Phil Gingrey’s utterances about more gun control, where he repeated the talking points of the gun control lobby to perfection. Shades of (former Democratic congressman from Marietta) Buddy Darden! Is it unreasonable for elected officials to get the facts before advocating restrictions on our liberty? For instance, we had an “assault weapon” ban and magazine restrictions from 1994 to 2004. These bans had no effect on crime when they were implemented or when they expired. Phil Gingrey wants to re-implement that? If this is the way Phil Gingrey collects the facts to evaluate potential legislation, we need a new representative.
