The weather service says high temperatures in the 70s will replaced by afternoon temperatures topping out around 60s in many areas.
Forecasters have issued a flood watch for 19 counties in north Georgia. They say a slow-moving cold front will bring widespread showers and periods of heavy rain.
The weather service says rainfall amounts of 2 or 3 inches will be common, and some areas could receive as much as 4 inches of rain by Wednesday morning.
The flood watch, in effect through Wednesday morning, covers several north Georgia cities including Calhoun, Cartersville, Chatsworth, Cleveland, Dahlonega, Dalton and Rome.
