MARIETTA – Police are investigating an armed robbery of a taxi driver that happened early Friday near Powder Springs Road.
A driver for A-1 Taxi was robbed after being dispatched to pick up a fare at around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Hollydale Court and Red Berry Lane, Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said. After arriving, two men got in the back seat of the car, while a third approached on foot, demanding money as he got closer. Pierce said the man began demanding money as he got closer to the car, while one of the back-seat passengers took out a handgun and pointed it at the driver.
The driver gave the suspects cash and personal items, after which the suspects fled the area, Pierce said. No one was injured during the incident.
Pierce said the three suspects were all black men, with the first described as 5-feet-7 inches tall with “light skin,” medium build, wavy hair and light colored eyes. The other two suspects had no further description other than that one was armed with a handgun.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call (770) 499-3910.
