Woman dies after accident that occurred back in May

NORTHEAST COBB – A teen who was struck by a car in May on Shallowford Road has succumbed to her injuries, police said.

Darion Elizabeth Hugh-Sam died as a result of injuries sustained in a May 28 accident, in which a 2000 Honda Accord collided with her while she attempted to cross Shallowford Road against a red pedestrian signal at the intersection with Johnson Ferry Road, police said. Another teen, Austin Leake, was also transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital as a result of the collision, but with non-life threatening injuries.

According to her obituary, Hugh-Sam died at age 19 on Dec. 21.She is survived by parents Christopher and Cynthia High-Sam of Roswell.

The driver of the Accord in the collision, 82-year-old Evelyn Tauchert of Marietta, was uninjured, police said.
