MARIETTA — A Marietta 21-year-old is accused of grabbing a Samurai sword when asked by another person to quit screaming at the TV while playing a video game.
Michael Anthony Burks was arrested Dec. 19 on charges of felony aggravated assault. He was released on a $10,000 bond two days later.
According to the warrant, Burks was playing the video game “Call of Duty” and started “becoming increasingly angrier and angrier and was expressing his anger by yelling and cursing loudly at the television.”
The victim reportedly told one of her daughters to ask Burks to stop and he “confronted her in an aggressive and threatening manner” that prompted the victim to step in and “defend her child.”
The victim stood in front of her TV to get Burks’ attention and he responded by grabbing a samurai sword and lifted it above his head “as if getting into a striking position.”
He was found in possession of the sword when police arrived on the scene but dropped it when they made contact, according to the warrant.
