Georgia and by downstream association, Cobb County and Marietta, education systems continue to be maligned and noted as lower ranked in proficiency for bringing our students to top-shelf performers. Nationally, the rating mavens suggest that Georgia lacks the performance standards to be taken as a serious contributor to preparing students for future growth.
I would challenge the measurement standards created by many other states as not being of the same caliber as those utilized in our school districts. This issue is a moving target as criteria for measurement is adjusted to present a rosy picture elsewhere, whereas our districts strive to positively fulfill needs of our students. Earning state charter status, creating alternate learning curricula, designing enhanced career pathways and community engagement are but a very few examples of the leadership and hard work presented by our school systems’ educators.
Success is measured by spawning new heights to overcome and not by lowering the standards to be cosmetically pleasing.

BTW, did you know a diesel mechanic can earn six figures? If success is defined as being a self-reliant contributing member of society, that seems like a really good way to succeed for many students.
The CCSD SPLOST also addresses ramping up facilities to support the new curriculum options for students as well.
"College and career readiness" is the phrase they use to describe these goals, fwiw.
