MARIETTA — A former employee of a controversial community organizers group said Friday that voter fraud may have played a role in last month’s presidential election.

Anita MonCrief, who formerly worked for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, commonly known as ACORN, told a meeting of the Cobb Republican Women’s Club that Democrats broke voting laws.

“We had people that were coming in from other countries that were being allowed to vote,” she said. “We had poll watchers that were being kicked out of the polls for two and three hours while fraud was occurring.”

Republican poll-watching groups are starting to fight back, MonCrief said.

“We have let Democrats control the electoral system for so long that they set up their own rules,” she said. “Now that we’re trying to put Republicans out there like True the Vote, they are having a fit. True the Vote was attacked every day for 30-plus days leading up to the election … because they are the only organization on the right that’s working toward electoral integrity, which makes them dangerous because the system is rigged.”

MonCrief said Obama lost states that require photo identification to vote.

“That’s including Georgia, where they raised the most noise about photo voter ID, only to find out that more blacks are voting in Georgia that have an ID than before,” she said. “So it’s not disenfranchising anyone. It’s getting more people out to the polls.”

But she said Republicans really lost before election day. MonCrief said falling behind in technology for get-out-the-vote efforts was crucial.

“Our blogosphere, our technology side is great,” she said. “We can’t get that side to work with the establishment side.”

MonCrief, a Birmingham, Ala., native, told the 100 attendees at the Hilton Marietta Conference Center that she joined ACORN and its affiliate Project Vote in 2005 because she wanted to help poor residents of southeast Washington, D.C. But she said she quickly learned the organization had other motives.

“There were really out there in the communities, but it wasn’t about fighting to end poverty,” she said. “The money was in the fighting and as long as you were out there saying that you were helping people, you were getting $30 million for Project Vote, $40 million for ACORN … Across the board, millions and millions of dollars were coming in through these tax-exempt organizations that either the government funds with grants or through private foundations run by far-left liberals like Barbra Streisand.”

Before the 2008 presidential election, MonCrief reported donations to then-Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign to the New York Times. She said organizations like ACORN and the public sector labor unions were encouraging donors who had given the maximum amount allowed by federal laws to give to them in order to get Obama elected.

But she said the stories printed were “watered down,” and the paper backed off covering the stories because it didn’t want to publish a “gamechanger” so close to the election.

“The only network that would touch the story was Fox News,” MonCrief said to applause from the audience.

ACORN fired MonCrief in January 2008, saying she had used one of its credit cards for personal expenses.

The resulting controversy after MonCrief’s claims were among several issues that led to ACORN’s 2010 liquidation and closing.

MonCrief was asked what Republicans can do to win over black voters.

“We have to start putting out positive images of black Republicans,” MonCrief said. “Martin Luther King was a Republican; I don’t care what anybody says. It needs to get out there.”

Janis Walling of east Cobb told MonCrief that she has been “very depressed” since Obama’s re-election.

“Our country is lost, and, honey, I hope you have a bodyguard,” she told MonCrief.

The statement led former county Chairman Bill Byrne to volunteer to serve in that duty.

After the meeting, Walling said she was impressed with the speaker.

“I was really astounded,” she said. “I was surprised at how truly conservative that she is. It was her journey that took her to the conservatism; she wasn’t just born into it. Her journey took her there. I think she’s one of the most brave people I know to be standing up against basically a machine.”

Donna Rowe of east Cobb said MonCrief’s claims of voter fraud should be looked into.

“We do need to be extremely conscientious that there is a high probability of voter fraud, and we’re doing out due diligence to put things in place to make sure it doesn’t happen,” she said.

JanTheMan, Not a single person who worked with Mailroom MonCreif will back any thing she says. Do you wonder why?

Moncrief when not beating the "I'm a singlemon drum is beating the victim drum." Mailroom MonCrief is/was a fired thief who only spoke after being fired. That is not a whistleblower, but a disgruntled ex-employee. Now dispute my facts with proof. Date of Mailroom Moncrief's dismissal vs date of first time Moncrief spoke.

Guess Cobb County has 1 overly sensitive lib! If you don't believe in voter fraud you ARE a lib, and you've NEVER volunteered at polls...just like a lib...Can't do anything to give back...just take, take, take and me, me, me...

Ms. Moncrief has more gumption in her little finger than you, cobb co lib... have in your entire liberal body.

Give it a rest and go volunteer, or do something useful like..go home and let Mommy 'make it better.'

Leave people who actually contribute to society.. alone!

Mariae: Since you believe in voter fraud, please list documented proof.

What makes you think I have never voluntered at the polls?

If you wish to believe what MonCrief has to say, go ahead. Of course you will believe her, you are Republican, you have no choice. Come up for air occasionally, you may learn.

Isn't interesting that GOP folks are worried about liberal "violence," always projecting their own murderous fantasies on Democrats and progressives. Here's a great example:

"Janis Walling of east Cobb told MonCrief that she has been “very depressed” since Obama’s re-election.

“Our country is lost, and, honey, I hope you have a bodyguard,” she told MonCrief.

check the article in today's paper about Augusta voter officials checking into voters who list empty lots and abandoned buildings as their residences. If you would take time off from your name calling and do the research you would know that democrats put specific resources into identifying very specific areas, down to the precincts, where they need to get votes. And then they go manufacture them. You are naive if you don't believe it. And if you vote Democrat you are in fact a cheater. How does that feel?

@DG: Get over the a** whuppin of 2008 and the loss in 2012. The GOP had badly flawed candidates in both elections. The GOP has lost, or more than likely never had an idea of what the current body of American voters looked like. No party or candidate can win when that party has alienated, the women, the African Americans, the Latino population, the elderly, the sick, the poor, the middle class, the LGBT, the unions. What we have seen since November 6th, is a significant number of Republicans distancing themselves from Romney and the antiquated policies of the GOP. The re-branding has begun and it will take years for you folks to catch up to with the thought processes of the 21st. century. The GOP in Washington went on a two year campaign which was designed to limit President Obama to one term. HA, that didn't work out very well now did it? The major problem which the GOP faced was the best you could do was Mittens. The best of a very bad litter of nut cases, except for Jon Huntsman. It's time for the GOP to get to work and represent the people who elected them, instead of playing get even with the candidate who beat them TWICE.
too many lies

December 03, 2012
Obama brazenly lies to the public, his minions lie to the public, and his supporters lie, either through sheer ignorance or malice, and we cannot believe anything that comes from the democrat party. They, themselves, have destroyed their credibility. The word "Integrity" has no meaning for any of them.

It wasn't voter fraud that lost the election and the sooner Republicans realize that and quite harping on it, the sooner they can get back to running a successful campaign.

The most strident conservatives were always liberals first, with the intelligence to see the light. Ronald Reagan's conservatism was galvanized as he saw the ugly liberalism and communism that entrenched Hollywood. Dick Morris was a liberal planner for the Clintons. David Horowitz of FrontPageMagazine was a radical 60s and 70s insider. This wonderful lady, who joined the radical organization ACORN thinking to help the needy, saw from the inside what exactly these organizations are, and what evil they will do in the name of helping people. It's all about power and about shutting down capitalism, class warfare. And it's all orchestrated by powers who want America as we know it to die a slow and agonizing death. Bravo for her courage, and to the Republican women for seeking the truth.

Betsy: Anita MonCrief was a mail room clerk for ACORN, hardly an insider. Ronald Reagan is dead and it's not 1980 any more. Was MonCrief the best speaker the Republican women could find? Yes, I guess she was, considering Romney was your candidate.

Wow, Lib. "Ronald Reagan is dead"??? Is that the best you can come up with?

It's always the name calling with you. So cowardly and typical of a Democrat.

By the way, Reagan lives and so does Breitbart. Right here in May-retta!

@Betsey: Yes, Regan is dead, as is Breitbart. Two sores on the backside of rational politics.

Breitbart was a liar and Reagan could not get nominated today. That's why I stated it's not 1980 any longer. Beleive what you wish. I prefer reality.

I love how Foley will comment and then he thinks of something else to tack on and posts again as Lib in Cobb. As though he doesn't have enough space to spew in his column.

Maybe your PR business would've picked up by now if Mitt had been elected. Alas, we'll suffer at least another four years with Obama messing up business and Foley having nothing to do. Hey, if you were the head of a business, would you hire the anti-capitalist Foley to help you?

bunch of whining republicans. like they are not committing voter fraud. What a joke. And for someone to be depressed because Obama got elected, get a life.

December 01, 2012
I hope the public and the Republicans are paying attention to this. There is no way we can possibly know just how widespread voter fraud is. The whole thing is sickening and threatens our way of life. Somehow, someone has got to put a stop to this.

@pay attention: Provide the proof of "widespread" voter fraud. I will bet you can't do it.
Back pocket

December 01, 2012
Obama and the democrats have so many people in their back pocket. There is voter fruad and several states, people said when they touched the screen for Romney, their vote went to Obama. WHy do you think people do not want voter id laws? Obama won by cheating and his main goal is to bankrupt our country! Democrats think we are whinning but all those people who voted for Obama will see in the end.

If any of you can provide any, any proof of any of these often silly, unrealistic, and irrational allegations please provide them to the appropriate authorities. Then I WILL pay attention. Signifigant effort was devoted to investigating voter fraud over the past 2 years by the republicans to support their voter suppression, sorry voter ID laws and as hard as they tried could find about .004 percent over the past 30 years. So it might be time to move on.

More Republican sour grapes. Those who can hear the dog whistles will not get over the TWO loses to President Obama.

ACORN was shut down more than two years ago. Moncrief was fired by ACORN for using a Project Vote credit card for the purchase personal items valued at $1,500.

No one has asked MonMrief to prove her claims, but the GOP women of Cobb believe her.

MonCrief has claimed that she was an insider at ACORN, in reality she worked in the mail room.
