FLOWERY BRANCH — An Acworth Marine who lost his legs and an arm in Afghanistan will be honored at the Atlanta Falcons’ football game Sunday.

Team officials said Marine Cpl. Todd Love of Acworth and Army SFC Michael Schlitz, an Iraq veteran, will be honored at the Atlanta Falcons “Salute to Service” game on Sunday.

Falcons officials say they’ve partnered with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Gary Sinise Foundation to raise awareness and money to honor both men. The men were scheduled to visit with team members during Friday’s Falcons practice.

The two foundations are partnering to build homes for Love, Schlitz and other injured veterans nationwide.

Love, a Kell High School graduate, lost both legs and his left arm in the explosion of an improvised explosive device on Oct. 25, 2010, five months after he deployed to Afghanistan, while serving as the point man on a foot patrol. He rehabilitated for more than two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He returned to Georgia after being discharged from the Marines in September.

Sinise played an amputee in the 1994 film “Forrest Gump” and stars in TV’s “CSI: New York.”

The Falcons host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at the Georgia Dome.
