Police were contacted at about 6 p.m. Tuesday and alerted to an incident where one man shot another in the parking lot of the university’s Engineering and Technology Center, said Marietta Police Officer David Baldwin.
“It was reported that a victim was shot and then left in a vehicle possibly to seek medical attention,” he said.
The suspect was last seen running on foot in a different direction.
“We just want everybody else to know that since this actually took place on a college campus that this was not directed as any type of retaliation or anything else,” Baldwin said. “This was just strictly an isolated incident between two people.”
The investigation is pending.
University spokeswoman Sylvia Carson said the campus was placed on lockdown for about an hour before it was lifted.
“All the area local hospitals have been notified if anybody comes in with a gunshot wound,” Baldwin said.
