About 55 residents and business owners met at the Hitson Center to view 114 images, ranking them on positive and negative scales then discussing their findings in small groups.
The attendees included representatives from the Sandy Springs City Council, the city charter commission, the Watershed Alliance of Sandy Springs, Heritage Sandy Springs, the city board of appeals and the Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods.
The process, called a visual preference survey, will help guide updated zoning regulations within the proposed redevelopment area surrounding Roswell Road between Abernathy Road and Interstate 285.
The results will be analyzed by Boston-based city planning firm Goody Clancy and posted to the city center website within two weeks.
Following the posting, more public meetings will be held regarding transportation options for the area.
A refined draft master plan will be presented to the city council in November, with a final plan ready for a vote in December.

They are planning their city as a walkable, LIVABLE city,.. far unlike anything in poor,treeless, businessless, slummy Smyrna.
Smyrna is nothing but government buildings, and governments overbearing heavy hand!
Sandy Springs is a city of movers and shakers that are INVOLVED w/ their future(unlike Smyrnas sleeping populace).
Their neighborhoods are safe, beautiful, their office buildings attract Fortune 500 and high paying jobs and their resturants and shops and services are many.
I am sure, watching Mayor Galambos in action, Sandy Springs citizens will be the benefactors of living in a destination city!!
