The breakfast kicks off a weeklong community effort to celebrate public safety personnel in Cobb County.
Preparations began months in advance with the nomination process for the Public Safety Employee of the Year Award and additional awards, such as the Medal of Valor, Award of Merit and the Distinguished Achievement Award. Residents, government officials, public safety agencies, and business and community leaders are given the opportunity to nominate public safety personnel for the honor.
Attorney Lance LoRusso of LoRusso Law Firm, who chairs the Chamber’s Public Safety Committee, said the week is a way to say “thank you” to the county’s public safety personnel for their service, sacrifices and commitment to protect the lives of strangers.
The Marietta Museum of History and the Aviation Wing are planning a “mini” Public Safety Vehicle Expo at the Aviation Wing Site from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
“We also hope to showcase specialty vehicles, such as a heavy rescue, SWAT truck, trench rescue, medical operations vehicle, mobile communications vehicle, prisoner transport vehicles (and) antique public safety vehicles,” museum director Jan Galt Russell said.
