Covington mom accosted for breast-feeding in restaurant

COVINGTON, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia woman says a restaurant manager called police after becoming upset that she was breast-feeding her child in a booth.

Dawn Holland says she was nursing her 20-month-old son in the back of an Applebee's restaurant in Covington southeast of Atlanta when the manager told her to breast-feed in the bathroom or leave. Holland says the manager called police when she refused.

WXIA-TV reports an officer responded to the restaurant Saturday, but decided not to file an incident report after hearing both sides. Holland says she felt humiliated and left the restaurant without eating.

Applebee's corporate office later released a statement saying the chain strives to provide a comfortable environment for customers "including nursing mothers who have the right to nurse in public."

The kid was almost two and the tacky mom was too lazy to feed the kid before they went to the restaurant. Come on, the kid could have had something from a cup and munched on Cheerios. Clearly, she was looking for attention and some quick money from a lawsuit.

It is rather unappetizing for a fat woman to nurse her toddler in a restaurant! Seriously. She might as well as changed a poopy diaper right on the seat of the booth. Wouldn't be surprised. She is an insult to women who know how to be classy when they breastfeed. She brought the trailer park in Applebees.

Completely spot on. 20 months the child can walk, talk, and has a full set of baby teeth; way too long to still be nursing.

All women should keep "the girls" covered in public - would it kill you to throw a blanket on the shoulder - why would you refuse to show a little consideration in public - I have them too but I still don't want to see yours - ugh!

I will breastfeed my child anywhere I please. Those who can't see breasts beyond sexual implication indeed may have more issues than the mom herself. Those who judge the age are quite ignorant of the much older age of all breastfed children. (Ages 3 to 4 globally). The benefits of breastfeeding far exceed the detriment of an immature public. Plus no facts in the article reveal whether or not the mom had a blanket. Grow Up.
