CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Democrats say answering the question of whether Americans are better off now than they were four years ago requires some context.

Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren tells NBC's "Today" show Tuesday that people should remember how far the economy fell and how hard it is to get back from a time when the stock market was crashing and the auto industry was a mess. She says the real issue is who has the best plan to move forward.

Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, meanwhile, says to ask the millions of people out of work if they are better off. He noted on ABC "Good Morning America" that unemployment remains above 8 percent, despite President Barack Obama's stimulus plan.

The question is a major talking point as the Democratic National Convention kicks off Tuesday.

The Democrats GOD is GOV they clearly didn’t have a two thirds vote; they use to really care about working class people. Even sine Lyndon Baines Johnson it has been a welfare party. Obama is an abused child that now has grown up to become a child abuser it’s just American taxpayer. He hates what America represents and wants to tear it down; he has excelled at this! Well four more years should do us in. I’m going to start learning Mandarin Chinese; they have invested trillions in us and would look forward to occupying us and taking over all that technology Obama says FORWARD!!

Not even close to being better off after four years of Obama. I say we need new leadership and new ideas, with a commitment to tackling the national debt disaster! NO MORE LIP SERVICE!

Hey Democrats, lets see you explain away 16 trillion in debt! Rino's and leftist loons need to get real that we are bankrupt as a nation and reelecting that mad man Obama will signal to the world that its time to cash out of the dollar.

In other words, Democrats know that we are not better off under Obama, so we need some "context" that doesn't make him look like a colossal failure.
