Police said the crash occurred around 1:59 a.m. on Sandtown at Booth roads in Marietta, when a female pedestrian wearing dark clothing stepped into the path of a white 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix traveling southbound on Sandtown Road near the intersection of Booth Road.
After being struck, the woman was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, but died as a result of the injuries she sustained, police said.
Authorities said the identity of the woman was not known.
She was described as a black female, 5-feet-4 tall and 110 pounds. She was thought to be in her forties or fifties and had very short gray hair. She was wearing a blouse, blue jeans and black shoes.
Neither the driver of the Pontiac, Rocio Mandujano, 18, or her 13-year-old passenger were injured in the collision, police said.
