The company, voestalpine Metal Forming, under its auto-body parts unit, plans to open the facility next July.
“We are just really excited about the possibility of these folks relocating here,” said Cartersville-Bartow County Joint Development Authority Chairman James Jarrett. “They’re an excellent company.”
The JDA announced the news at a special called meeting Aug. 15 where the authority signed a memorandum of understanding with the company.
Afterward, Bartow County Commissioner Clarence Brown hailed it as a milestone for the county.
“This could turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to Bartow County,” Brown said. “It’s a great day.”
According to a news release, voestalpine’s Metal Forming Division, and specifically its auto-body parts unit, provides the automotive industry and suppliers with pressed parts in the body-in-white segment, as well as innovative structural components. The company said its customers represent several of the leading manufacturers in the automotive and automotive supply industries.
“As a supplying partner to the automotive industry, we have a very high commitment to quality to both innovative products and smooth supply chains,” AG Herbert Eibensteiner, CEO of voestalpine Metal Forming, said in a statement.
Bartow County’s geographic advantages played a significant role in voestalpine’s decision to open its new manufacturing operation here.
Voestalpine will be the anchor tenant in the Highland 75 development, a 707-acre master planned industrial/corporate park that is just off Interstate 75 in Cartersville. Highland 75 is a collaboration of Bartow County, the city of Cartersville and Bartow-Cartersville Joint Development Authority.
