ACWORTH – Acworth Police have identified the inmate found dead in a city jail cell on Saturday as Douglas Jay Postell, 53, of Acworth.
Postell was found unresponsive on his bed in a cell about 7:30 a.m. Saturday and was later pronounced dead. Because his death occurred inside the city’s jail, Cobb Police were asked to investigate. Acworth Police say Postell apparently died of natural causes in his sleep, and there were no signs of foul play.
Postell had been arrested on charges of DUI three days earlier, on Aug. 15.
