MARIETTA - The Cobb County School Board has postponed its discussion about the possible censuring of board member David Banks to its Sept. 12 work session.

North Cobb School Board Member Kathleen Angelucci requested the censure issue be placed on Wednesday’s agenda for public discussion but asked that it be delayed until all board members are present. Lynnda Eagle, who represents northwest Cobb, is out of the country and did not attend the meeting today.

Angelucci’s request to add a discussion about censuring Banks to the Aug. 8 agenda came after she made a speech during the July 19 night meeting about how Banks admitted in his weekly newsletter called the Grapevine to contacting school district employees about one of his opponents in the July 31 primaries, has previously attended a school’s staff meeting uninvited, visited schools without 24-hour notice and printed “untruths” in the Grapevine about board members.

Alison Bartlett, who represents west-central Cobb, also spoke to Banks’ previous actions.

Please check Thursday's MDJ for more details on what it means to censure a board member and for other details about what went on at the work session.

The Cobb School Board has serious issues and challenges and suggested campaign behavior is not one of them ! No harm, no fault, move on with the agenda for educating the children of Cobb County. Time and moeny is being wasted !

What I would like to know is what happened to the Lassiter personnel who talked to Banks about a student's parent. They should be held accountable...the employee should know that they are not allowed to talk about private student info. If Banks did not have cooperation from the school, this would not even be an issue now!

Mr. Banks is not my cup of tea either, but enough of this nonsense already. It is a slippery slope here when you start making accusations of this sort. Ms. Angelucci would be better served picking her battles and focus on the things she can change. Mr. Banks obviously has the support of the voters in his post, and all a censure will do is slap him on the wrist....and at worst be a distraction to the real issues at hand. Let's talk about class size, furlough days, staffing cuts for AP classes in the middle schools, the schedule, or spending. Really....please just move on. Mr. Sweeney, sir, it is up to you to set the tone and the agenda here. Start stepping up to the plate here.

Just because ethics in conduct are apparently not important to you doesn't mean ethics in conduct shouldn't be important to the rest of us. Ms. Agelucci not only had the right to bring this up for discussion but she had a duty to bring it up as does anyone else who becomes aware of questionable conduct by another member. Banks' dirty and underhanded dealings become more bold and obvious every time he gets away with it and it's time to clock him on it.

@@ "Your Kidding Right?" Angelucci and Bartlett have had it in for Banks from the get go. I agree with "other side". A & B need to move on, grow up, stop creating drama, and start focusing on what matters for our kids! At least Banks is out there trying. Can't say the same for A & B. Geez. I'm so sick of this nonsense.

It's mindsets like yours that make it all a waste. When it's YOUR candidate in the hot seat, you want to "move on". hahaha ! too funny! The old good ole boy double standard rears its ugly head once again.
