EDITOR’S NOTE: Below is a selection of the responses from readers of MDJOnline.com in reaction to recent MDJ stories.

Pro-TSPLOST column by Michael Paris touches nerve with readers …

URKiddingRight? — WOW Michael!! With such articulate and convincing spokesmen like you and Tim Lee stumping for this TSPLOST it’s no wonder that the opposition seems to be growing each and every day. My advice is to lock yourself in a closet and keep your opinions to yourself until after the referendum.

30066 — The context of Mr. Paris’ comment about “logical-thinking” simply equates to being a lemming. Fall off that cliff!

Logic schmogic — What you presented was not a logical argument but an emotional argument, just like all the other TSPLOST propaganda.

I don’t mind that — people have to sit in traffic. It seems like encouragement to live closer to where you work, or vice versa.

Future of GA — You do realize that without major infrastructure improvements major companies will never again invest a large number of jobs in metro Atlanta? Before a company invests here, they’re going to want to see us invest in ourselves.

Living closer to where you work isn’t the issue. We should be able to live where we want and still have a reasonable way of getting to and from work each day.

IneffectiveTax —The more rational method of funding traffic improvements is through an increase in the gas tax. Why should a tax on soap or diapers pay for traffic improvements? IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!

West Cobb Farmer —Fixing the traffic problems in metro Atlanta is a dramatic and ambitious goal. Traffic congestion in Atlanta is not new, it has been with us since the 1960s. Like going to the moon, fixing metro Atlanta’s traffic problem requires much consideration and planning. TSPLOST is not a plan, it’s a tax.

Sailedship — Whether TSPLOST advocates admit it or not, it’s clear that the ship has already sailed on this year’s referendum and it will not be passing.

Jesse James — What is logical is that if your office is in Lawrenceville, and the drive from East Cobb is too tough for you, maybe you should move closer to Gwinnett and say goodbye to Cobb.

Marc0 — If you live in East Cobb, I would challenge you to find anything in TSPLOST that will have a positive effect on your commute. That is by far one of the most glaring deficiencies — the powers that be seem to only be able to add more spokes to the center hub while continuing to ignore where people really want to go.

30068 — As a very logical person who has researched this tax. I am going to vote NO!

TIC — A perfect example of unmitigated arrogance and elitism. Get out of my way, Michael, or I will run you down getting to the ballot box so I can vote NO.

Group to circle I-285 to protest TSPLOST…

Edification — A bunch of people wasting gas to no avail.

Pericles — This idea takes the stupidity of the anti-TSPLOST crowd and uses it to create physical peril for the rest of us. The T-SPLOST will build 157 much-needed projects to relieve traffic and help bring JOBS to metro Atlanta. What does the other side offer? Moronic publicity stunts.

THWG — This Lights for Liberty Drive is so stupid. A drive around Atlanta in protest of this only wastes gas, ads to the congestion and presents a safety hazard. This might be as stupid as the Occupy movement, well; I guess there won’t be drug usage, defecating on cop cars or rapes going on during this protest, so it’s not as bad, but IT IS STUPID.

Pascual Perez — You people are loco!

VOTE AGAINST THE TIM-SPLOST AND TIM (LEE)

Dear Editor,

Tim Lee gave away Cobbs share of T-Splost to Fulton County. Almost nothing will be done for TRAFFIC RELIEF. Almost all of it is intended for the CORPORATE WELFARE of ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO ENRICH WEALTHY DEVELOPERS. VOTE DOWN THE TIM-SPLOST AND TIM LEE TOO. Maybe the OCCUPY PROTESTERS should protest outside the Chamber of Commerce over this. It does nothing to help the working classes on traffic relief. It looks like I am going to be stuck with voting for Bill Byrne because he at least manages county money better. I especially do not like the way he DECLARED WAR ON COBB'S CITIES SUCH AS MARIETTA AND SMYRNA. He cut off Marietta's share of an earlier road Splot over a piece of property being annnexed into the city. Marietta needed the Tower Road Underpass for access to Hospital. He als warred against Cobb's other cities too. I HOPE HE CAN GET ALONG BETTER WITH OTHERS NOW THAN HE DID IN THE PAST. Maybe we can put him back in. IF HE WARS AGAINST THE CITIES AGAIN AFTER GETTING ELECTED, WE WILL HAVE TO PUT UP A RECALL PETITION AGAINST HIM. I wish THEA POWELL had not dropped out. If she had not, he would been the better candidate. For now Byrne is our best choice.

VOTE AGAISNT TIM-SPLOST AND TIM TOO.

Sincerely,

Keith Black
