MARIETTA — Most of Friday’s meet records in the Stu Hixon Invite at Mountain View Aquatic Center were set by a swimmer from the Pilot Aquatic Center of Knoxville, Tenn.

But despite that, it was the Woodstock-based Chattahoochee Gold that had most of the event wins.

The Gold did get a record-setting performance from 14-year-old Lauren Case, and her victory was one of 10 for the program. The rising Woodstock freshman set a new bar in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 1.77 seconds, breaking Courtney Ciardelli’s 4-year-old record of 1:03.81.

That was Case’s lone event as she geared up for the U.S. Olympic Trials, which begin Monday in Omaha, Neb.

“We just wanted to check her speed to see if it was OK,” said Falco Fleischmann, an assistant coach for the Gold who also serves as Case’s personal coach. “It’s also a confidence boost to carry her through the trials.”

Recent Woodstock graduate Erika Staskevicius, who will be swimming for Georgia Tech in the fall, won the girls 15-and-over 200 freestyle (2:08.59), while rising Walton junior Kira de Bruyn clinched 400 IM (5:07.90). Spencer Johnston, who is home-schooled, won the boys 15-and-over 100 butterfly (58.90), and rising Pope sophomore Emma Murray won the 100 breaststroke (1:17.98).

Tyler Yuen claimed two titles, winning in the boys 13-14 200 freestyle (2:05.42) and 400 individual medley (5:07.58), and Logan Belt won the 100 breaststroke (1:16.19). Emma Cole, who is the same age, won the 200 backstroke (2:21.89) for the girls, and Jaclyn Hill clinched the girls 11-12 200 IM in (2:33.06).

“We’re in the halfway point of summer, and we’re seeing where the kids are in dealing with their training stresses,” Chattahoochee Gold coach Pat Murphy said. “Some kids do well with it, and some get wiped up and will have to adjust. I’m very proud of what we did (Friday).”

Caleb Harrington ended up being the three-time record-setter for the Pilot Aquatic Center.

The 12-year-old broke Griffin Garrett’s mark of 2:25.13 in the 200 IM by winning in 2:24.33. He also broke Jimmy Yoder’s 4-year-old record (1:00.16) in the 100 freestyle by winning in 59.18, and his third title came in the 50 backstroke with a new time of 31.77, beating Jacob Rees’ record of 33.70 set last year.

Andy Yap of the Cobb Stingrays, a future Lassiter swimmer, gave Harrington competition in both the IM and freestyle, as well as setting his own mark in the 200 backstroke. He shattered Ethan Neult’s record by more than 3 seconds, winning in 2:21.89. Yap also broke Yoder’s previous mark in the freestyle in with a time of 1:00.10, but he had to settle for second to Harrington.

Rising Etowah junior Taylor Weiss won the girls 100 butterfly for the Rays in 1:04.94. Gabriel Bellot-McGrath won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.46) and Molly Green clinched the girls 11-12 50 backstroke (34.50).

Britheny Joassaint was a two-time winner for the Marietta Marlins in the girls 11-12 division. She won the 100 freestyle (1:02.42) and 200 backstroke (2:34.99).
