CLEVELAND (AP) _ Cleveland police say a woman who had been stabbed in the neck apparently tried to drive a vehicle and struck a 2-year-old girl. Both are now dead.

Police spokesman Sgt. Sammy Morris says the child and the woman died at hospitals after the crash Thursday night.

The woman was identified as 29-year-old Sharice Swain, of Cleveland. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

The child’s name hasn’t been released.

It’s not clear how and why the woman was stabbed. Officers are investigating the crime scenes in a mostly residential area a few miles southeast of downtown Cleveland.

Police say another woman was taken into custody, but there is no word on any charges.
