C.W. Matthews gets DOT contracts

MARIETTA — The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded two contracts to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., of Marietta. The company received the $11.6 million contract for the widening of two miles of State Route 347 near Interstate 985 and Lake Lanier in Hall County; and a $3.7 million contract for widening and bridge joints repair on seven miles of Buford Highway/SR 13 from Spring Street in Fulton County to the DeKalb County line.

Warner, Bates & McGough, P.C., makes additions

CUMBERLAND — Warner, Bates & McGough, P.C., announced that James J. McGinnis is joining the firm as a partner.

In addition, the firm announced the addition of Mark A. Bishop as associate. Bishop comes from the family law firm of McGinnis & Chambers, LLC, where he has practiced exclusively in the areas of family law and domestic litigation for the past 10 years.

Bishop graduated summa cum laude from Georgia State University, where he later earned his law degree in 2002. He is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court.

The EcoLeadership Award was launched in 2009 and honors companies that recognize the importance of environmental sustainability and that demonstrate a commitment to being eco-friendly. * Allstate agency owner Mel Clemmons received the 2012 Agency Hands in the Community Award. With this award came a $1000 grant from The Allstate Foundation for the Neighborhoods Focused On African-American Youth Inc. in Atlanta, where Clemmons volunteers.

* GreyStone Power’s linemen swept all categories at the annual Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo in Albany. The cooperative’s three competing journeyman teams took home first place overall, as well as second place overall and third place overall. The next step for GreyStone’s linemen is the International Lineman’s Rodeo, which will be in Bonner Springs, Kan., on Oct. 13.
