MARIETTA — Three men are facing murder charges in connection with Saturday’s shooting death of a northeast Cobb man.

Brandon Tyler Love, 18; Percy Lee Burdine Jr., 29; and Jalin “Snoop” Collins, all of Woodstock, are charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in the death of Milton Carl Kelley, 53, who was found dead in his driveway on Leicester Drive after police received a call at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Cobb Police said Wednesday.

All three are being held in Cobb Jail without bond.

Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said he couldn’t discuss what the motive may have been in the crime or whether the suspects knew Kelley.

“Investigators have an idea of what the motive may be. However, they are not releasing that information,” he said.

Love was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a Smyrna apartment, while Burdine was taken into custody Wednesday morning at his home in Woodstock. Collins was arrested Wednesday afternoon at a residence off Canton Road in northeast Cobb, hours after police had issued a “be on the lookout” alert for him.

Bruce Thomas, Kelley’s nephew, said he believes his uncle knew Love, but did not know how.

While Thomas was pleased to see arrests have made, he said it doesn’t ease the sorrow the family feels over Kelley’s death.

“We know that this person won’t be living a normal life, but none of us are,” he said. “He has to suffer right along with us.”

On April 16, just days before Kelley was shot, Collins pleaded guilty in Cobb Superior Court to gang and drug charges stemming from 2010 and was sentenced to three years of probation. Collins was also charged, but not indicted, on charges of carrying a weapon in a school safety zone on Aug. 27, 2010, near Harrison High School.

Love and Burdine also have been charged with crimes in the past.

According to officials in Cherokee County, Love was charged with obstruction last October after a Woodstock Police officer found him slumped down in the passenger seat of a car parked outside a party. The officer said Love initially gave him a false name, but when he later gave him his real name, an active warrant out of Cobb County showed up in his computer system.

Less than a month ago, on March 31, 2012, Love was arrested for failing to appear in court on that obstruction charge, according to Woodstock Police.

Burdine’s past arrests include being charged with a probation violation and marijuana possession, officials said.

Kelley is the fifth homicide victim in unincorporated Cobb.
