Marietta High will get its theater …
Unbelievable! — It’s unconscionable that Marietta City voters would pass this waste of taxpayers money when we are all just trying to scrape by at home!
Jackie Cosey — I voted yes. Those of you against it, well, let’s just put it this way, don’t let the trailer screen door hit your back on the way in to watch another episode of Hillbilly Handfishin’ on the big ol’ flat screen!
Voted NO — Hardly a referendum when less than 4K voters decide for the whole city. I think that is exactly what MCS was banking on. Ridiculous. Now we sit back and watch while it goes over budget.
Oh Yeah? — Absolutely frightening. Less than 15% of the registered voters voted to gamble on a millage increase for themselves and their neighbors, which is exactly what is going to happen when Cobb County voters tell their elected officials to take SPLOST IV and stick it.
Another NO vote — And graduation rates at MHS will continue to stagnate.
Cobb resident — Way to go Marietta. You guys must really love your school system! No small feat to pass this at this time during a Republican Primary. I continue to hear great things about Marietta. Good job.
VFP42 — Looks like the beer vote sure brought out the thespians and Newt voters, costing Marietta taxpayers countless more millions of dollars for the bottomless money pit and costing Georgia its self respect
Readers respond to Mike Bailey letter, “Goldstein needs to ‘man up,’ forget Theatre in Square’ rent …
LoveLivingMarietta — Philip Goldstein is only out for himself when he has let the Theatre on the Square go over a year without paying rent?? How many of you could go without payment on a rental house for a year and be financially OK? Mike Bailey, and all you others who hate Goldstein need to look in the mirror and ask yourself how you can have so much hate in your heart that you lose all common sense. You are HATERS! RIP Andrew Breitbart! I have been inspired and intend to start calling them out.
WestCobber — This sounds like some more of the “I”m entitled mentality” as long as it’s the other guy’s money which has taken over this country. I am not a Goldstein fan either, however, as a landlord myself I can just see the county/city forgiving my property taxes, or my insurance company telling me not to worry about the premiums because my tenants have not paid the rent. If you feel this strongly about Theatre in the Square, contribute. You can be very generous and righteous as long as it is someone else’s money. Right?
SouthernGal —Why on earth should Goldstein not make a profit on his rentals? Obviously the theater-going crowd is not doing enough to support Theatre in the Square.
Anonymous — Given that Theatre in the Square is still there after not having paid Goldstein anything for almost a year, I’d have to say that Goldstein HAS BEEN quite generous with them.
Yawn — No one put a gun to TOS to sign the lease, did they? Can I lease some property from you and not pay for it? Please?
Anonymous — I wonder how many checks Bailey has sent to support the Theatre. “Zero”?
Agreed!!! — Purchase a building and house the theater yourself, Bailey. I am in no way a Goldstein fan, but this has to be the dumbest letter I have ever read. Man up, Mike and put your money were your mouth is.
