SMYRNA — Two people face murder charges in the Monday death of a Smyrna man.

Candice Augustina Smith, 32, and Deandre Demond Ramsey, 39, both of Smyrna, were arrested Wednesday and charged with felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault, in the stabbing death of William Lamar Milton, 47, also of Smyrna, according to the Smyrna Police Department.

Police found Milton after responding to a call late Monday night in the 1800 block of Teasley Drive. Milton was able to identify Smith as his attacker before he died, police said.

Further investigation found that Smith stabbed Milton, an acquaintance of hers, as a result of a personal dispute. Ramsey, Smith’s boyfriend, held Milton while Smith stabbed him, according to police.

Candice Smith and Ramsey are both being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Jail records did not indicate their bond and who their attorneys are.

The jail’s website doesn’t show previous arrests for Candice Smith. But Officer Smith said Smyrna police have dealt with her before under the name Clarice Smith, which is how they initially identified her.

“It’s apparently an AKA or alias for her,” Smyrna Police spokesman Officer Michael Smith said.

The jail website shows that Ramsey was arrested for simple battery-physical harm Aug. 2 at the Masters Inn in Marietta. He was released Aug. 31 on time served.
