Marietta City Schools beginning pre-registration and orientation for 2011-2012

MARIETTA – With school beginning for Marietta City Schools on Aug. 11, they are preparing for pre-registration, orientations and district-wide open houses.

The annual “Kindergarten Kruise” for elementary students and their parents is Thursday, Aug. 4. School buses operate during regularly scheduled route times and any elementary student, regardless of grade, can ride the bus with their parent. Special needs buses “Kindergarten Kruise” routes will run Monday, Aug. 8.

Pre-registration for all MCS elementary schools will be held Aug. 2, 3, 5, 9 and 10 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 – 3 p.m.

Marietta 6th-Grade Academy pre-registration will be held Aug. 3, 5 and 9 from 9 a.m. to noon; and Aug. 4 from 4 – 7 p.m.

Marietta Middle School will host pre-registration by appointment only on Aug. 2 and 3; and by appointment and for walk-ins on Aug. 4 from 1 – 6 p.m., and on Aug. 9-10 from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 770-422-0311, ext: 1243 to make an appointment.

Marietta High School will hold pre-registration by appointment only on Aug. 2 – 5 and on Aug. 8 and 9, from 1 – 2:30 p.m.; and by appointment or for walk-ins on Aug. 10 from 8:30-11 a.m. Call 770-428-2631, ext: 2231 to make an appointment.

Open house activities for MSC elementary schools will be held Aug. 10 from 9-11 a.m.; Marietta Center for Advanced Academics, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon; Marietta 6th-Grade Academy, Aug. 9 from 1-4 p.m.; Marietta Middle School, Aug. 9 from 4-7 p.m.; and Marietta PLC at Woods-Wilkins, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Marietta High School will host 9th-grade orientation and student open house on Aug. 9 from 9-11 a.m. and parent/guardian open house on Aug. 9 at 7 p.m.

What!! Marietta City is starting school on Aug. 11??!! Isn't that much too early? Remember, it's too early for Cobb! Doesn't anyone in Marietta care about their poor hot students and the terrible a.c. costs that will be so much worse than the third week in August???
