Mary Ann Pierce, age 56, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 in her hometown of Smyrna, GA. She was born October 13, 1954 and was a lifelong resident of Smyrna. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherwood (Cotton) and Sarah Pierce. She was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years. Mary Ann was an avid jogger and was a veteran of the Peachtree Road Race. Her dogs were her heart and soul in life. Mary Ann is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Sherwood (Woody) and Vickie. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at the St. Jude's Episcopal Church with Father Bernard Rosser officiating. Interment will be in St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 8 at the Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlanta Humane Society, Attention Memorial Department, 981 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30318 in Memory of Mary Ann Pierce, Hannah Belle, and Beany Boy.
