The Girls - a special group of ladies who have been close friends for almost 50 years - Eleanor Dabney, Maurice Davis, Jo Warren and Joyce Whittle. Katherine was born in Savannah, GA on August 21, 1924. She always held fond memories of Savannah and made many trips back to visit family and friends. While working at C&S Bank in Savannah, she met a young Teller, William (Bill) Harley, Jr. They later fell in love and married on September 13, 1947, at Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah, where she had attended since a child. Bill joined the Air Force and they moved many times during that period, taking them all over the United States. Katherine always took pride in making their dwelling a home in each area they lived. After completing a degree at Georgia Tech, Bill secured a job at Lockheed and the family settled in Smyrna GA. Katherine worked at the Bank of Smyrna, Atlanta Rd., Smyrna, GA, for many years, but her heart was always caring for, and loving, her family and friends. Katherine was presently a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marietta GA. She was previously a long-time member of John Knox Presbyterian where she enjoyed and taught the Ladies Circle Bible study for many years. Visitation and funeral services were held last weekend at Castellaw Funeral Home in Smyrna, GA. Rev. Denise Beltzner officiated, and Dr. Justin Harley delivered the Eulogy. Alan Harley also shared some loving thoughts about his mother. She is interred at Cheatham Hill Cemetery next to her beloved husband. Katherine will be greatly missed by her family and friends who love her so much, and whom she loved with all her heart. Should anyone want to share in a remembrance of Katherine, a donation to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America would be appreciated.
