Avenue East Cobb Gap to conduct ribbon-cutting

MARIETTA — The Gap at The Avenue East Cobb will conduct a ribbon-cutting Monday to celebrate the store’s remodeling. The store has been updated over the past three months. Shoppers will receive 25 percent off all purchases Monday. The first 100 customers will receive a 10 percent off on VIP shopping pass valid for one year, and 2011 graduates can take 25 percent off their entire purchase through May 29. The event is at 9:30 a.m. at The Avenue East Cobb, 4475 Roswell Road in Marietta.

Galleria launches mobile site

The Cobb Galleria Centre has launched a new mobile Web portal. The portal is formatted for phones and iPads and features floor plan views, dynamic feeds from the event calendar and Google Maps directions. Smyrna-based Solar Velocity developed the site. “Our new mobile web portal will help our guests more easily access important information about the Cobb Galleria Centre while they are away from their homes or offices,” said Michele Swann, general manager and CEO of the Cobb Galleria Centre. “This accessibility is growing more important every day, and we are pleased to offer a solution that makes the Cobb Galleria Centre experience even better.” The mobile site can be accessed at www.cobbgalleria.com/mobile/index.aspx.

Jefferies joins Emory-Adventist

Bryan Jefferies has joined Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna. Jefferies is board-certified in ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Jefferies received a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Cedarville University in Ohio and a Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he also served as chief resident in his final year.

Aflac to sponsor Heisman Trophy

ATLANTA — Georgia-based insurance firm Aflac has announced that it will sponsor the Heisman Trophy beginning this fall.

Aflac said in a statement that the company has a multi-year partnership which begins this season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Aflac’s statement did not indicate specifically what the sponsorship will entail. It said the firm can now offer “an array of exclusive, Heisman-themed experiences to its accounts and brokers.”

Aflac Chief Marketing Officer Michael Zuna said in a statement the Columbus-based company knows its agents and partners are passionate about football, so they are excited and honored to partner with the award. It is given annually to one athlete who is deemed college football’s most outstanding player.
