MARIETTA - Cobb Police are asking for help in identifying a man who was found burned to death in a Feb. 16 brush fire. Police have released pictures of the man investigators believe is the person who died.

Just after 4 a.m. Feb. 16, firefighters were called to the scene behind the Citgo gas station on Windy Hill Road near Interstate 75, where they discovered the body of a man.

Though the body was burned beyond recognition, investigators determined it was a white male approximately 40 to 50 years old. His right arm had been amputated below the elbow, and he likely walked with a limp, police say, based on the "lift shoe" that was on his left foot. Investigators believe he was homeless.

Jay Salmasi, who owns the Citgo station adjacent to WellStar Windy Hill Hospital, said the man had bought a beverage in his store that Monday.

"He was an older gentleman and his arm from his elbow was missing. He had a limp also," Salmasi said. "And he then said he was going to Florida the next day, meaning Tuesday."

The photos released Wednesday were taken from a bank in the Windy Hill Road corridor area.

Anyone with information which may assist investigators with this case is asked to call (770) 499-3945.

You should never have published that comment from truth hurts.

People who talk down to others without giving helpful advice, well, these types might think they are funny, but they are not.
