Cobb County Police Chief John Houser honored Marietta attorney Lance LoRusso with the title of "Honorary Major" on Feb. 1. This is the first such award given by the Cobb County Police Department. Houser, Deputy Chief Ron Storey and Detective Bob Pier presented 'Major' LoRusso with a plaque "in sincere appreciation for your support and assistance to the charitable programs benefiting the residents of Cobb County, GA."
LoRusso served as a Cobb County police officer for 12 years before becoming an attorney in 1999. He earned a law degree with honors from the Georgia State University College of Law while working full-time with the Cobb County Police and the Cobb Solicitor General's office.
WellStar hospitals honored by GHA
WellStar Health System in Marietta had four hospitals - WellStar Cobb, WellStar Douglas, WellStar Kennestone and WellStar Paulding - named to the Georgia Hospital Association's Partnership for Health and Accountability Quality Honor Roll. The WellStar Paulding Hospital is one of 21 hospitals in Georgia to be placed in the chairman's category, the highest on the GHA list.
WellStar Kennestone, WellStar Cobb and WellStar Douglas placed on the GHA Presidential Honor Roll, the second highest on the list.
SunTrust Banks wins 18 awards
SunTrust Banks, Inc. has won 18 Greenwich Excellence Awards for distinguished performance in serving the financial needs of business clients in 2010, doubling the number of Greenwich Awards it received in 2009.
