Sally Litchfield: Couple celebrates 60 years; spread some Strand love

February is the month for celebrating love - especially lasting love. Congratulations to Joanne and Davis Walker, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 3. The Walkers were married in 1951 in Marietta.

The Harrison Youth Basketball Association held its All Star Day for the third-, fourth- and fifth-grade girls on Sunday at McClure Middle School. The superstars enjoyed performing drills and scrimmages. Steve Lenahan, Harrison's varsity girls head coach, attended the festivities along with several players.

All Stars included Bella Broadhead, Gabriella Diemer, Olivia Dobbs, Lauren Evans, Hailey Feldman, Hannah Forehand, Emily Glaze, Anna Heine, Sarah Harris, Abbey Hutchinson, Tassy Kirbus, Caroline Lewis, Grace Ostman, Emma Perry, Hannah Thomas, Bridgett Satelle, Noelia Sinnard and Ansley Yates.

The Dogwood Cotillion, Cobb Junior Chapter, celebrated its 2010-11 season on Jan. 26 at The Olde Towne Athletic Club where the young ladies and gentlemen exhibited their skills for parents who attended the last of the four-week session.

The ladies wore white gloves and their finery with the gentlemen in coats and ties. After introductions and demonstrating different dance steps with each other, the children danced with either their mother or father.

Among those attending were Braden Boden, Zoey Brown, Zach Camp, Chloe Champagne, Riley Cohen, Ashley Cranfill, Ansley Carr, Luke DePiero, Didi Elder, Carl Grindstaff, Grace Jarbeau, Jackson Kelley, Emily Keller, Benji Laufer, Thomas Long, Madison McNew, Bailey Schreiner, Charlie Wood, and Emily Wood.

This is a GREAT idea for a permanent display for your loved one. Chocolates and flowers have no staying power, but a brick is forever!
