SOUTH COBB — A 30-year-old Texas man left a cooler filled with 33 pounds of marijuana at a Pilot gas station in south Cobb early Thursday, just after midnight, then drove off in his 18-wheeler, according to police.

Jose Angel Roque was arrested shortly after during a traffic stop at Interstate 285 and Riverside Road. He is charged with trafficking marijuana.

Cobb Police spokesman Officer Joe Hernandez said a witness worked with an officer who was patrolling in the area to locate the cooler. The officer had a K-9 that identified the cooler’s contents, Hernandez said.

According to Roque’s arrest warrant, the chest contained 33.5 pounds of pot that was packaged in 13 separate, pressed blocks and wrapped in shrink wrap and/or duct tape.

Hernandez was unable to say if the cooler was intentionally left behind or if it was intended for someone else. After the marijuana was identified, officers pulled over Roque’s tractor-trailer and took him into custody without incident.

According to the warrant, Roque, of Mercedes, Texas, admitted that the chest was his.

He is being held in Cobb County Jail without bond.

You guys are sooooo ignorant, it would be funny if weren't such a shame! Why do think the 'power' in Cobb is out in East Cobb,... duh,... cos' those people demand their officials to PROTECT their neighborhoods & house values! You think there's ANYONE that is helping South Cobb? Stoner, Bacon, Scott??? It's goin' in their pockets, not the community!! All ya gotta do is look around! So many of the 'good folk' living out here in south cobb are having their whole future & investment ripped away from them,... by the greedy. The 'what evs' types who don't give a hoot HOW they make their money & WHO they hurt in the process- as long as they can boast & bully along the way. Mr. garden gnome, you really aren't as smart as you think,... (see your neighborhood crumble!)!

Hey S.Cobb Resident, I agree with you 100% although it seems the moron has a little more than just a keyboard. Apparently there's a thesaurus close by as well. LOL

Good heavens, corn cobb!!!

I have a brother who has lived in South Cobb for 35 years and my parents lived there for over 20, moving from Smyrna, where they had lived for 30 years. They passed away, but they had some of the finest neighbors anyone could want. And they raised a bunch of kids who have grown, had families of their own, and every one of them works, pays their bills, and has never been in jail.

I mean, South Cobb may not have all the ritz and glitz but there are families that have been there for a very long time who are as good, honest, kind, hard-working as you can ask for. Mabelton and Austell folks deserve a heck of a lot more respect than you are giving them.

Thank-you, hateful south cobb hillbilly. Your vitriol made my case!

Wonder just how many 'illegals' YOU employ, being you want to ignore their very existance ( which is the reason they have been able to turn virtually every south Cobb community into a 3rd world barrio!!)

Viva la Cobb, the new Juarez!

Wow Corn Cobb, what an incredibly stupid thing to say. If you'd dislodge your "corn cobb" long enough, you might learn that South Cobb County is not a pipeline to anything, let alone drug trafficking. We are victims of the war on drugs much like EVERYWHERE else, no more and no less. Clearly, reading and comprehension isn't your strong point but that's the beauty of allowing any moron with a keyboard to post a comment on this site. The entertainment value of individual ignorance is sometimes staggering like in your case. Hillbillies? Whatever that means. I've lived in S.Cobb for over ten years and am proud to know that the average level of intelligence here seems quite higher than the content of your comment. Just plain stupid !
Illegal Immigrant?

Wonder if Roque is an illegal immigrant with ties to the maijuana's source (in Mexico or Central America)? Glad he's caught. Wonder how often long-distance drivers do this?

No doubt the war on drugs has reached the level of confusion where Grass and Gas have the same meaning......
