Sprayberry prevails in PKs

Sprayberry was 5-for-5 on penalty kicks and kept its playoff hopes alive Thursday with a Region 7AAAAA win against Creekview.

The game was deadlocked at 1-all after regulation and overtime, sending it into the penalty kicks. That’s where Rodrigo Blankenship, Antonio Valenzuela, Kalum Eaton, Adrian Rodriguez and Taylor Torson all succeeded.

Michael Rabah scored the equalizing goal in the second half, off assists from Valenzuela and Blankenship.

Eric Aguirre manned the goal for the first half, and then from overtime on. Mackenzie Brackett filled in during the second half, and they made two saves together.

Sprayberry (9-6, 4-4) will return to action April 15, traveling to Allatoona in a non-region game.

Mount Paran Christian 6, Darlington 2: The Eagles led 4-1 at the half and cruised to the Area 7A win.

Alex Gernatt had three goals, Cole Gibbon had two goals and an assist, Daniel Gray scored a goal and Matthew Harrison, Ryan Moran and Chance Hogan each had an assist.

On a six-game winning streak, Mount Paran (9-3-1, 4-0) will play at Walker on April 16.

Late Wednesday

Mount Paran Christian 10, Armuchee 0:
Jay Dayton led with three goals and three assists in the non-area game.

Alex Gernatt had three goals and an assist, Cole Gibbon added two goals and two assists, while Steven Craig and Chance Hogan each scored a goal.


Kell 10, Osborne 0:
Six players scored as the Lady Longhorns dominated the Region 7AAAAA game.

Tracey Webster’s hat trick led the way, followed by two goals apiece for Courtney Hendrickson and Kelsey Wood. Hailey Hendrickson, Kalyn Petrik and Megan Tymchuk each scored once.

Webster and Hailey Hendrickson each had two assists.

Savannah Corr recorded the shutout for Kell (7-7-1, 4-5), which will travel to North Springs on April 16.


Lassiter 11, Pope 4:
Hunter Rowley led the Trojans with three goals in the non-area battle of east Cobb rivals.

David Olson, Jack Fitzharris and Corey John each scored twice.

Ryan Smith had five saves, while Parker Styles entered in the fourth quarter and recorded a save of his own.

For Pope, Cody Polifka led with two goals. Joe Harmon recorded 17 saves for the Greyhounds.

Lassiter will play at McIntosh on April 16, while Pope will play Thursday at Milton.


North Cobb 20, Campbell 3:
Taylor Johnson led the Warriors with six goals, followed by Casey Paige’s four.

Morgan Hutcheson, Hannah Ludy and Taylor Purks each scored hat tricks. Peyton Reid has six saves in the goal.

The Lady Warriors earned their third win of the season and will play at Walton on April 16.


Late Wednesday

Mount Paran Christian 91, Kell 101:
Holly Cannon’s 45 led the way as the Lady Eagles beat the county rival from Class AAAAA.

McKenna Cua was close behind her teammate, adding a 46.
