A source close to the situation, who spoke to the Journal on condition of anonymity, confirmed the injury and said that Jones should be fine after surgery.
According to a story first reported by Score Atlanta, Jones, a four-star recruit committed to Alabama, was injured during a locker-room fight Friday at Walton. The story said witnesses told school administrators that Jones did not throw any punches during the altercation.
Over the last two seasons, Jones has been one of the state’s best running backs, rushing for 4,047 yards and 49 touchdowns.
His 2012 season was cut short because of a sprained knee that forced him to miss the final three games of the season, including Walton’s first-round state playoff loss to Parkview.
Entering the Raiders’ game against Etowah on Nov. 2, when Jones suffered his knee injury, he had run for 1,672 yards and 16 touchdowns. That included consecutive games of more than 300 rushing yards to begin the season.
In 2011, Jones rushed for 2,375 yards and 33 touchdowns, leading Walton to a 14-1 record, a state runner-up finish and recognition as the Class AAAAA Offensive Player of the Year.
Jones committed to Alabama last February and has not wavered on that decision, but some recruiting websites still consider him to be a soft verbal commitment to the Crimson Tide. According to 247Sports.com, Jones still has mild interest in Georgia.
Along will the Bulldogs, Jones also has also drawn offers from Auburn, Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt in the Southeastern Conference, Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Virginia and North Carolina of the Atlantic Coast Conference and Oklahoma State of the Big 12.

Had alot to do with an incident that occured a few weeks ago when TJ was involved in an altercation, of campus, with some Lassiter folks. He is not as innocent as SCORE Atlanta is making him out to be. It is crazy how some of these athletes get the "benefit of the doubt" when they go to a certain school or are a big time recruit. Story would have been portrayed much differently if it happened in West/South Cobb area.
