ROSWELL — Walker continued to rewrite its record book Friday, remaining undefeated with a 54-7 trouncing of Fellowship Christian in a Region 6A (B) road game.

With at least four games left in the season, the 10th-ranked Wolverines (6-0, 2-0) matched their team record for wins in a season.

Walker, with its third game of 50 points or more, now has 250 points on the season, blowing past the program’s previous single-season record of 205. The Wolverines are outscoring their opponents by a 42-10 average.

Evan Kasian added to his stellar rushing season, with another 277 yards on 17 carries, and he now has 1,207 yards on the season. The senior also scored four touchdowns — on runs of 19, 21, 42 and 45 yards — and has reached the end zone a county-best 17 times on the ground.

“Evan is a guy that helps fuel the team because he is a great leader,” Walker coach John East said.

Walker’s defense also showed up in a big way, holding Fellowship Christian (1-5, 0-2) to 190 total yards and picking off Paladin quarterback Hunter Bryant three times.

The defensive line was led by Duke commitment Mike Ramsay and Colin Mitchell, who were in the Paladins’ backfield all game long. Mitchell also contributed a blocked punt that the Wolverines recovered at the Fellowship 1-yard line, and he sacked Bryant in the end zone for a safety.

“We did a good job defensively,” East said. “(Fellowship has) a quarterback that fakes the ball really well, and we saw that on film, but we got it together and shut it down.”

Things got rolling for Walker from the get-go as Austin Walker recovered a fumble, setting the offense up at the Paladins’ 33-yard line and leading to Kasian’s first touchdown. Walker added an interception to bolster the defensive effort, as did Yanik Desai and Christopher Graham.

The Wolverines built a 23-0 lead due to their defense and Kasian’s running, but Fellowship mounted a seven-play, 67-yard drive capped by Bryant’s 15-yard scoring strike to Jake Williamson.

Walker aided the Paladins with a personal foul on the drive and another on the ensuing kickoff. Two more penalties on the ensuing plays backed the Wolverines up to their own 4-yard line, and momentum seemed to be building for Fellowship to get back in the game.

Kasian, however, ran the ball 67 yards on the next play, and Walker scored four plays later on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Cameron Bloebaum to Mitchell Carmack.

“The left side of the line made some excellent blocks, and our fullback picked up a huge block, and I just found the hole they made for me and ran through it,” Kasian said of his game-breaking run.

Walker, one of two subregion unbeatens left alongside Whitefield Academy, has three games left before the season-ending region play-in game. After traveling to King’s Ridge Christian next week, the Wolverines will host Whitefield — an annual rivalry that dates back to 2002 — on Oct. 26 in a game that could decide the subregion’s No. 1 seed.
