One of the problems with today's political discourse is the incivility. Nothing positive can happen when you demonize and denigrate those with whom you disagree.
Mr. D.A. King and I have engaged in a back and forth blog discussion on immigration I began some time ago by suggesting Mr. King's inflammatory rhetoric was counterproductive. I noted that proof could be found in the numbers of Hispanics and Latinos, formerly reliable Republican voters, who now support Democrats in overwhelming numbers.
Mr. King, who initially promised to ignore me, has responded by unleashing a series of poorly written personal attacks on me for merely attempting to elevate the debate. He obviously takes comfort and encouragement in the few responses he gets from his cadre of followers.

Who's the adult and who's the hysterical reactionary unable to engage in a grown-up discussion? Mr. King is intellectually challenged and lacking the resources to respond civily, he resorts to juvenile nonsense, lamely attempting to embarrass me when it is Mr. King who should hide in shame.
Mr. King, you and your ilk are one of the best things that has ever happened to progressives. In fact, it may well be your own race-baiting that makes the difference for President Obama if he's re-elected.

Haven't we seen this movie before? It used to be "uppity Negros" who "didn't know their place" in the old Jim Crow era; burning Freedom Rider buses, poll taxes, and Bull Connor's attack dogs. Now it's undocumented workers, most of whom find themselves employed and often exploited by American business owners, doing the dirty jobs none of us want to do: Cleaning toilets, washing dishes, gutting chickens, digging holes. And D.A. King adds to their misery.
Kevin, King allowed how his organization has lots of different types of people (of all colors, Kevin, cause we know that matters to you)and announced his intention to grant your wish and help you with your goal of being well known. Persoannly, I think his reminder of your racebaiting on the Tea Party and Allen West was quite amusing. So was your response to a letter to the editor that omitted any note that West is black and you didn't know it.
It was also a scream (for my neighbor too) when you jumped in and told King that he was wrong on Obama's amnesty not being a Executive Order. You got that wrong too Kevin
Fold your tent on King, Kevin. You are completely out classed.

It is people like King who have made me speak up very loudly and often about my political beliefs which are driven by my core values. For many years I listened to the words of my father, "You don't talk about money, politics or religion". Well, sorry dad, it is the right wing whitlenuts who have made me react, sometimes with anger. I no longer politely attempt to change the subject when I am met with hate speech based on lack of knowledge.
