Wrong again. Your editorial stating George Zimmerman’s acquittal was the “right decision” was yet another example of your wasting space in portraying your knuckleheaded opinions as facts.
Fact 1: Zimmerman had no legal or articuable authority whatsoever to pursue, stalk or otherwise accost Martin. He was simply a volunteer watchman (the operative word here is “volunteer”).
Fact 2: After numerous (47) calls to the dispatcher and the 48th regarding Martin, Zimmerman was told “not to pursue.” Of course he did, with dire consequences.
Fact 3: Zimmerman was older than the 17 year-old Martin. It does not matter who threw the first punch nor who was “on top.” The fact remains that Zimmerman was in no uniform, had a hidden loaded semi-automatic and Martin was in a position to try to defend himself. The “stand your ground” so-called law should have applied to Martin instead of Zimmerman.
Fact 4: Zimmerman not only should have heeded the dispatcher’s warning not to pursue but should never have gotten out of his vehicle.
Fact 5: There is no way in this world that Zimmerman, being older and armed to the teeth, would be in fear for his life, bodily harm or call for help.
Fact 6: Race had nothing to do with this murder — and murder it was, plain and simple. Zimmerman was drunk on power and was frothing at the mouth to shoot somebody — anybody that he could find an excuse for shooting.
If Zimmerman had acted as a sane, normal being and was not consumed by his gigantic ego, this tragedy would not have happened. However, to compound this senseless murder, there are mindless zealots such as MDJ Editorial Page editor Joe Kirby and the likes of Geraldo Rivera that use your mighty pens to foist poisonous figments of your vicious minds for public perusal. Shame? You have none! If it had been YOUR son, would you still feel the verdict was the “right decision”?
