What will it take to get Dallas Highway safety fix?

Well, it has happened again. June 8 about 5:30 p.m. there was a bad accident on Dallas Highway at the Avenues of West Cobb. This was not as bad as it could have been, as no one was killed. In the past year, accidents at Oregon and Dallas, The Avenues and Dallas, and Bob Cox and Dallas have resulted in deaths.

Inquiries to the Cobb DOT and Georgia DOT result in responses that they “are looking in to it.”

There are three problems:

1. The turn lanes block opposing vehicle views, as they were built too small.

2. The speed limit through this section of Dallas Highway is 55 mph, where 45 would be better.

3. The traffic signals, while doing their job, could be improved to require drivers to stop until the intersection is clear, rather than giving a conditional turn indication (see 1. Above.)

Four (or more) major accidents, poor turn lane design, many west Cobb or other residents injured and three deaths. How many more deaths will it take to get the attention of someone and get the problems corrected?

There actually was a death on June 8th. My cousin majesta was the one in that accident and she passed away... At only 17 years old. What a shame a tragedy had to happen in order to get it fixed. Pisses me off.

If turning left and your vision is obstructed, just sit and wait for the green arrow. Just ignore the idiot behind you laying on his or her horn.
