Warrant: Man set off explosive device at Marietta apartments

An underage man is accused of being under the influence of alcohol while he allegedly threatened groups of people and blew up homemade explosives at the U-Points Apartments in Marietta near Interstate 575.

Police say Derrick Brown of Fayetteville wandered around the apartment complex while he was drunk. While at the apartment complex, Brown set off a small homemade device that exploded at the apartment complex’s pool area, according to the arrest warrant. The arrest warrant also stated that Brown made “terroristic threats” against witnesses and police officers. Brown is not a resident at the apartment complex, according to the arrest warrant.

Brown was arrested May 22 by the Cobb County Police Department. He was charged with underage consumption of alcohol, loitering/ prowling, reckless conduct and terroristic threats.
