Warrant sought in domestic dispute

SMYRNA — A warrant was issued for the arrest of a Smyrna woman stemming from an alleged domestic dispute on the morning of Oct. 2, at a home near South Cobb Drive and Atlanta Road.

The Cobb County Police Department said Alicia Velasquez is accused of entering the bedroom of the victim, striking her in the face and head, kicking her legs and throwing a replica tomahawk at her.

According to the warrant, there were abrasions to the victim’s pinky finger and her left eye, as well as a cuts to her lower lip and upper right thigh.

Alicia Velasquez also threw a metal wrench at her young brother while he lay in bed, which missed him, but left a hole in the drywall, the warrant said.

Besides two misdemeanor counts for battery and assault, Alicia Velasquez faces a felony count for a terroristic threat.

Alicia Velasquez threatened to kill the victim by saying, “I will kill you,” while holding an orange pocket knife, which was overheard by the victim’s young son, the warrant said.
