Mrs. Norma Rowland Barge Watts age 73 of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, September 24th following a heroic 7 year battle with lung cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, September 28th at Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Mrs. Barge Watts retired from the Cobb County Solicitor’s Office where she worked in the victim-witness unit, and was a member of Smyrna First Baptist Church. Mrs. Barge Watts was a 47 year resident of Smyrna. Not only was she loved, admired and respected by many, but also she significantly impacted the lives of countless people, both young and old, with her accepting, and caring heart. The grace and tenacity she displayed in her valiant battle with cancer inspired many. Many thanks to the Visiting Angels who helped care for her in the last months. You truly blessed her. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leland Jerone Barge; grandson, Mitchell Alan Watts; her parents, Frank J. Rowland and Eula Mae Smith Rowland; brother, Clyde Rowland; and sisters, Marjorie Mae Rowland Bird and Mary Anne Rowland Marriott. Survivors include: Husband, Homer (Billy) Watts of Smyrna; sons Phillip Rowland Barge of Blairsville, Douglas Leland Barge of Rome, Charles Alan Barge of Smyrna, Curtis Baxter Barge of Smyrna, and John David Barge and wife Loraine of Kingston; stepson Mark Allen Watts of Auburn and stepdaughter Lisa Ann Watts of Marietta; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 PM Friday, September 27th at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna (770)435-4467.
