Information about Marietta is now at your fingertips. This week, the Marietta Visitors Bureau launches the new Visit Marietta Square App for iPhone, iPad, and Android users. The app is free to download and allows visitors and residents to explore Marietta including dining, attractions, lodging, events and more.

The Visit Marietta Square App makes it easy to enjoy all that Marietta has to offer. Turn your Smartphone or mobile device into a personal tour guide. Download the App on your iPhone or iPad through the App Store, or on Google Play for Android devices. The app’s Connect feature provides up-to-date information on various events and happenings taking place in the area, and allows users to stay connected with the Marietta Visitors Bureau on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and online at mariettasquare.com.

“Mobile technology is fast becoming vital for tourism businesses and we wanted to take advantage of the value-added benefits of having a digital presence that could help to boost tourism in Marietta,” said Katie Peterson, marketing and public relations manager. “Our app improves the way you plan your visit to Marietta and includes easy-to-search comprehensive listings for events, dining, attractions, lodging and more.

“The app serves as a centralized and interactive source of Marietta information for visitors and residents.”

Peterson said in the coming months, Square merchants will have the ability to upload specials and promotions to the app for users.

“All (Marietta) Square restaurants and shops are included on the app. Attractions and lodging options within the city of Marietta are also included on the app,” she said.

The Visit Marietta Square App allows visitors and residents the opportunity to keep up on the latest events, discover Marietta’s gems (shopping, dining, and attractions), provides a local map, and even allows visitors to book hotel rooms through the app.

“For an interactive hotel booking experience, the app offers a quick, easy and secure way to find and book hotels nearby,” said Theresa Jenkins, executive director. There are plans for a “Hip Deals” section as well as individual special event apps.

Over the summer, Marietta Visitors Bureau anticipates adding a heritage tour app that will focus on local Civil War sites. Peterson said that interest in these locations is certain to be high with the approaching 150th anniversary of the Atlanta Campaign and Sherman’s March to the Sea.

“Nowadays, people are always on the go. Visitors can get more out of their stay in our community through the Visit Marietta Square App that offers convenience in experiencing the local area,” Jenkins said.

The Marietta Visitors Bureau also offers new visitor guide brochure, a 16-page visitor’s guide with Marietta information including details on attractions and lodging, pictures, and annual events. It is available at the Visitor Center, 4 Depot St., in Marietta (just off the Marietta Square) or call (770) 429-1115.

Very cool and informative app! I'll definitely be using this one. It will really help to decide where to eat on the Square.
