MABLETON – The Cobb Police Robbery Squad is investigating two armed robberies that occurred hours apart Wednesday in Mableton.
The first robbery was reported at 3:25 p.m. the Dollar General store, 1391 Veterans Memorial Highway, after a suspect displayed a handgun and ordered a cashier to get on the ground while the cash register was opened while the suspect made a small purchase. Police said the suspect is a 5-foot-11 to 6-foot tall black man in his mid to late 20’s, with a medium build, low haircut and facial stubble. He has a tattoo of a cross on his face between his eyebrows and unknown tattoos on his upper cheeks near his eyes. Police said he was armed with a handgun and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and red and black athletic shoes.
Another store was robbed at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the suspect entered the CVS drug store, 5863 Mableton Parkway, holding what appeared to be a single barrel, single shot shotgun, then approached the front counter and demanded money from the cash register drawers. He received an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot in an unknown direction.
Police said the suspect is a 6-2 black man who is skinny and wearing a gray pull over hooded sweatshirt and a red knit cap. The cap has a ball on top and black hearts going around it. He is believed to still be armed with the shotgun.
