Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does. Our boneheaded Cobb government without our knowledge or approval has decided it is a good idea to spend $10 million of our hard-earned money to “teach people how to use public transportation.” Yep, I know it’s hard to believe but there it is in black and white in the MDJ article “Cobb breaks ground on new $10M paratransit facility.” We also get to finance the operation of this joke to the tune of $52,000 a year, if you believe that’s all it will cost. There was no mention of the cost of furnishing the building with desks, chairs, electronics, landscaping, etc.
My dear friends, this story proves why it is crucial to vote NO on July 31 and stop in its tracks the Transportation Investment Act, aka TSPLOST. When the highest elected and appointed government officials of Cobb County can, with a straight face, brag about flushing down the toilet $10 million of our money to teach people how to ride the bus, when they have the nerve to proclaim this kind of junk as brilliant planning, then it is time for us to take drastic action.
This kind of crazy spending stops only when we stop it. Vote NO to the TIA and throw out of office every incumbent politician who supports this kind of insanity.

If you beleve it is not costing local taxpayers then i have some ocean front property in Valdosta you might be interested in.
I am guessing CobbRes either works for the county government or is someone named Tim Lee, Faye DiMAssimo, Mark Mathews or is a member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.
Oh, and CobbRes...there is no reason to continue being fooled, so this will probably be helpful for you: it is not a "one penny tax"...it is a one percent tax--and that means you will be paying a lot more than just that one penny Tim Lee and the others tell you are paying.
And I guess when Tim Lee and Faye DiMAssimo tell you the Feds are picking up part of the tab, you really think that someone other than you and me are paying for it.
Ignorance can be fixed. But you have to pull your head out of the sand first.
I agree w/ you Tony, 100%!!
Didn't mean Cobb needs a train we can't afford,... just meant its too damn late for Cobb to catch up w/ any better economies at this late date.
They've been lying, cheating & stealing our money for 20 years, w/ nothing to show for it!
That's why we are in the sad shape we're in.
I doubt Charlotte would welcome Cobbs rif-raf!
People already know how to ride a bus, they just don't want to as they would rather DRIVE in the comfort and relative luxury of their own vehicle instead.
Instead of burning through tons of public money to teach people to do something that they obviously don't want to do is widening all major roads so that they can better handle all of the very heavy traffic that is on them, starting with US Hwy 41/Cobb Parkway, which they should be turning into a partially-tolled super-arterial which FUNDS ITSELF WITHOUT RAISING TAXES through USER FEES in the form of tolls, meaning only those who use the road pay for it!
Tim Lee and Faye DiMassiomo are driving this county into the ground.
Their incompetency and lack of integrity is beyond comprehension.
They both need to be replaced as quiclkly as possible.
There is bus service currently to downtown, and the buses travel in the HOV lane. However, hoards of people wishing to travel by bus are not left behind because the public transport does not meet the need.
Stay tuned for my next letter.
