The board of directors has elected Carol B. Yancey as executive vice president of finance and corporate secretary and she will assume the role of chief financial officer upon Nix’s retirement. Yancey has been with the company for nearly 22 years and was previously senior vice president of finance and corporate secretary.
Hill promoted to executive VP
MARIETTA — Kathryn Hill has assumed the role of executive vice president at Financial Aid Services, a management consulting firm that helps colleges and universities optimize their financial aid operations. She has been with the company for 18 years.
* Three-13 Salon, Spa & Boutique presented a check for $33,313.13 to the Georgia Transplant Foundation, and Dr. Andrew Smith, medical director of the Center for Heart Failure Therapy and Transplantation at Emory and president of the Georgia Transplant Foundation Board of Directors from the proceeds from its second annual Angels of Life Hair & Fashion Show to benefit the Georgia Transplant Foundation. The foundation assists families with monthly bills, transportation and monthly medications during the transplant process.

Insurance consumers warned
ATLANTA — Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens has confirmed that 28,467 households in the state could be affected by an online security breach involving Nationwide Insurance Co.
Hudgens said the company notified him that a portion of its computer network was accessed illegally. The hackers gained unauthorized access to personal information of policyholders and applicants for policies.
Nationwide has opened a toll-free hotline to field questions from anyone who might have been affected. The number is 1-800-760-1125.
Hudgens said the company also has committed to provide his office with evidence of written notice to everyone who could have been affected and to provide those people with free credit monitoring and identify theft protection from Equifax for at least one year.
The commissioner’s office also has a consumer hotline at 1-(800)-656-2298.
Atlanta to begin gov’t survey
ATLANTA — Mayor Kasim Reed wants to know what Atlanta residents and visitors think about Atlanta government. To find out, the city is launching an online survey.
It is available at atlantaga.gov/survey. Reed’s office plans to collect public opinion through the spring of 2013.
Reed said residents and visitors should expect a high level of customer service from all agencies and offices of the city. One of his aides, Kirstin Canavan Wilson, said the responses will be used to identify areas that need improvement.
Earlier in Reed’s term, the city of Atlanta adopted a so-called Customer Bill of Rights. It states, among other principles, that everyone dealing with the city has a right to courteous treatment, easy access and responsive service.
